DOUGLAS TODD has received over 50 local and international awards for journalism on religion and philosophy. He has written several books including “Brave Souls: Writers and Artists Wrestle with God, Love, Death and Things That Matter as well as A Soul Searchers Guide to the Galaxy” and has most recently edited Cascadia: The Elusive Utopia -- Exploring the Spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

PATRICK CONDON is a Professor at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He is the author of several books including “Design Charettes for Sustainable Communities” and has just completed his newest work “Seven Rules for Sustainable Communities”. Professor Condon is a champion of rethinking our communities to dramatically reduce our burden on the planet through such initiatives as promoting streetcar technology.

JOHN FLUEVOG is a world renowned designer of shoes with a flagship store and design headquarters in Gastown and outlets in major North American cities. His shoes have received international acclaim and can often be seen being worn by celebrities. John Fluevog currently has a major exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver running until September 26th which celebrates 40 years of his designs and entrepreneurship.

RENA SHARON is a Professor of Collaborative Piano Studies at UBC and is the founder of the Vancouver International Song Institute which celebrates the fusion of text and tone. She has been a concert performer in numerous countries since the age of 19. She is an Artistic Director of the Young Artist Experience program which blends music study with explorations of art, science, humanities and social responsibility. Her music is heard regularly in performance on Canada’s national radio, CBC.

ROBYN DRIEDGER – KLASSEN is an up and coming soprano singer who has received numerous awards and grants and is in high demand in the opera world. She has performed across the country and beyond, having completed her second season with Seattle Opera’s Young Artist Program. She is an ardent supporter of the Vancouver International Song Institute founded by Rena Sharon.

MAJOR HARJIT SAJJAN of the British Columbia Regiment has served in several dangerous theatres of conflict with the Canadian Forces. He is also a Detective with the Vancouver Police Department which allowed him to serve overseas. Major Sajjan makes public presentations to various groups promoting a greater understanding among the many cultures in Canada.

ARRAN STEPHENS is the President and co founder of Nature Path Foods, North America’s largest organic breakfast food company. It was started as an organic food store on 4th Avenue in 1967 and is one of the few companies of its kind that has resisted being absorbed by one of the dominant corporations. Arran Stephens was instrumental in establishing the SOS Eco Centre in Richmond and is the author of the books “Journey to the Luminous” and “The Moth and The Flame”.

MARK JACCARD is a Professor of Sustainable Energy in the School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University. Professor Jaccard has served on numerous policy councils including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is the author of several books including Donner prize winning Sustainable Fossil Fuels.

MICHAEL STEVENSON has served as President of Simon Fraser University for 10 years and is an accomplished and award-winning scholar and author with a special focus on public opinion and policy and post-apartheid politics in South Africa. Dr. Stevenson championed SFU’s School of the Contemporary Arts at Woodwards as well as numerous other initiatives to make the university more responsive to the community.

AL ETMANSKI is a social entrepreneur, social inventor and social innovator. Al founded an organization called PLAN- which supports people with disabilities and their families. He is the author of several best sellers including A Good Life and Safe and Secure with 10 editions in Canada and beyond. Al Etmanski is active in advocating for new methods of financing social organizations. He is a community Organizer specializing in family led solutions to social challenges.
